I’m Back (Allix Booth)

After a long six months of being away from my blog, I have finally returned with some big surprises for you guys. I’m now officially writing under a pen name which as the heading says, “Allix Booth”. Since you guys were the ones that really sparked this new side of me to life throughout the last year, I want to extend an invitation to all of you to come check out my cover reveal event on Facebook happening January 31, 2016. “The Temperament Scepter”, will be the first book I have published in the last two years and it is a dark epic fantasy.

Please come check out the event it has an uploaded book teaser trailer of my new novel as well as information on the event. There will also be multiple guest authors taking over the event, which will be especially exciting because these guys have busted their tails on some truly remarkable pieces of work.

Work and Play Everyday!

I’ve been away for a good few weeks now. I’m trying to get some things straightened out financially as well as experiencing a little bit of free time in my life. When I started this blog, I was expecting to write at one post a day, or four posts in a week, maybe give myself two to three days off. I realize now that sometimes “me” time is good. I haven’t really tried to have a lot of that in my life. I’ve always been stressed about work, money, relationships, success, school, or anything that might make me grow to be loved by many people. Why did I always feel the need to have this kind of attention? Honestly, I don’t know. I stopped looking for a relationship and I found my fiance. I stopped playing in a band and I found a job. Now, I’m a little confused about what’s next. I had a lot going for me as an assistant for a grocery store, but I couldn’t help feel this entity within me begging to push for something else. I wrote a book, published it, and have it on a few different retail sites, but I still don’t feel complete inside. Does anyone else ever feel like this?

I know I have been writing about 1,000-1,500 words a day for my new book Phantom Force. I’m really enjoying this novel, and I can’t see to break myself away from it. Well, I usually end up playing Destiny about 5-6 hours a day, which i know is a total waste of time, but it is very inspiring. There are many things that inspire me to write like books, games and movies. Yes, I do accidentally fall into that group of writers that will accidentally write a story based off of something I’ve seen or read, but I always break away from it and create something hopefully new and different.I appreciate the emails I’ve received from a few of you. Sorry, I’ve been a way for so long, but I had to take care of things that were going on in my own life to be able to sit down and actually give you guys a decent post. Or even a not so decent post, which ever you guys view my blog as. I did receive some criticism recently about one of my posts and it was on a subject that is sensitive, but I took that risk and I accepted it.

Anyways, what have I been doing the last month that I’ve been away. Well, Destiny is a big part of my life apparently now. I went to Ruby Falls and Rock City this last weekend. I’ll try to post some pictures later. Also, I found out the answer to all of life’s questions is 42.

So here’s a serious question to the people who have read my book and want to read more. Would you rather read a book in multiple posts on a separate blog, almost like a weekly episode type of deal, or in novel form? I’ve very interested to see what answers you guys have because I’ve been very interested in writing a story like in a season with multiple episodes to it. Well, I’m going to go play some Destiny and try to get 2,000 words in before then.

I want to leave a shout out to a friend blogger on here that finally broke me out of my Destiny shell this month. kateturville!!!

Back into the Addiction!

Thanks to some fellow bloggers that I got to play with last night, I am officially back on the wagon with Call of Duty. We had some awesome matches and for once it actually felt like we were operating as a team instead of running around aimlessly like idiots. We won some and we lost some but in the end it was a kick ass night! If you’d like to play with me, my gamertag is ColumbianTolbert on the PS3. I’ll be there probably in a few minutes. If you’re not playing Ghost, let me know which one you are playing and I’ll see if I have it to jump on there with you. Cheers to all of you! Hope you guys are having an awesome Friday! By the way, I survived the dentist…

Reviews for Authors

I had a post a week or two ago about reviewing author’s novels/stories. If you are interested in receiving a review from me, you can contact me here, or through my email. The criteria I base my reviews on are: character development, plot development, and mechanics. I would be highly interested in helping you. I base my reviews on a 5 star scale.

5 Stars- Amazing, engrossing, page turner

4 Stars- Well written, nice plot

3 Stars- A balance between nice and needs work.

2 Stars- Needs work. Couldn’t finish it.

1 Star- Bored to death, needs editing, and terrible character development.

That’s my grade scale, and I will also try to balance my likes and dislikes about a novel. Also I mostly review, horror/science fiction/literature fiction/occasionally romance. I am open for more genres, but those are my favorite ones to review. If you have any questions, you may contact me at anytime. It may take a few for me to respond, but I will get to you eventually, and if I don’t. Send me another request after 30 days.

I will post my reviews on the kindle website or which ever website you would like my reviews on. I will have more descriptive reviews on here though.

The Interesting Things I’ve Accumulated

2014-08-21 23.55.19

This is my display of some of my graphic novels from The Walking Dead. I also have an abundance of comic books on the top shelf in my office but they weren’t as appealing as this bad boy!

Here’s my Lord of the Rings signatures. The top one is a screenplay signed by the cast, and the bottom one is the two actors I didn’t get signatures from in the top one. I got these 3 pictures/ screenplays at Dragon Con four or five years ago.

I bought this piece because Charles Adlard (The artist for some of Kirkman’s Walking Dead Comics) made this. I still haven’t framed it, but it’s a fantastic piece for my Walking Dead collection!

This is an Assassin’s Creed poster for Black Flag. I like this because it was made by Todd McFarlane (Another artist that drew for Robert Kirkman)

And my most prized piece is the Stormtrooper helmet. I won this baby from my photographer when I donated to her friend’s charity. I love this because I mean, it’s Star Wars, nothing is more beautiful than this sitting on top of the shelf in your office while you find those inspiring words.

As you can see, I’m a bit of a nerd, but I love collecting things. It’s growing to be an almost dangerous hobby! Hope you guys enjoyed!

The Walking Dead

I freaking love the Walking Dead. I don’t know if it is because it is set in my hometown, or that it is nothing like the zombie norm that I have ever seen. I don’t want to say that I am intrigued by the drama but in all honesty, I am. I mean, Robert Kirkman is my hero when it comes to the comic books. Now, the show has even made me more in love of with the zombie universe that he has created. Let me take you through a few highlights of why I love the show and comic book so much… (SPOILERS!)

Okay, if you haven’t noticed already from all three of these comic selections from the Walking Dead, THE GORE. I mean, what makes Robert’s world of Walkers so crazy is the fact the humans are actually killing each other. If you’re asking yourself, “Why the hell would they want to kill each other?” Well, the answer is…

A safe place to shelter themselves from the grotesque creatures that want to devour the innards of the human body. Everyone in the comic is always on a constant journey to find a home. Somewhere they can be safe and not have to worry about being killed by walkers. It seems like there is never a place that anyone can hide from these things. The reason being is that we all have the virus inside of us. So say, an elderly man dies of a heart attack, he doesn’t have any bites, and it’s all from natural causes. He will still turn into one of the walking dead. It’s almost an endless battle to survive because once we kill each other, we just come back to life ready to rip a jugular from our enemies throat. It’s freaking insane!!

Rick Grimes is the main protagonist in this story and the Walking Dead staff, producers, and directors did it right when they cast Andrew Lincoln. I mean, how could you go wrong with an actor with a British accent. Andrew plays the role perfectly. A sheriff trying to find his family in the midst of an ever growing apocalypse. He has to face a lot of challenges along the way, but he some how gets through them with his wit and survival skills.

He also seems to be the only one that actually DOES WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO SURVIVE! If you watch the show or read the comics, he is the only character that actually puts his group before anyone else. Except his son and wife of course. Them two are his main concern. He kills his best friend, he locates safe places and forces his group to keep moving on, he also has a knack from running into weird characters on the road.

There are so many things that I could write that explain how awesome this story is but it all is going to still come down to the things I have already written. The virus being inside us already, the character drama, and just the casting. The casting was almost spot on with every character. I would suggest at least checking out the show if not the comic book. Both have different story lines but they are both very fun and interesting. I know Nadine and I make it a point to have the show recorded or be off work during the marathons on television.

Just remember, “Kill the Dead, Fear the Living.” quoted by Rick Grimes. Be safe!

Is It Expensive, or Are We Poor?

I was sitting at home today thinking about all the materialistic things that I have in my house right now. Many questions kept popping in my head and nothing seemed to make sense in my own mind. Seriously, why the hell did I buy this crap?! Apparently when I was an assistant manager I didn’t think about where my money was going. I’ve even had some friends tell me not to overspend and be careful with the newly acquired income I was receiving. Like damn, I went bookoo crazy!

I stepped down from my job as an assistant because I was losing a lot of my personality. I was angry every day, unhappy, and the upper management made me feel like I was a shit stain they needed to clean up. It got to a point where suicide seemed like the only option to escape the place. I was frightened and scared what I might lose when I left my position. I was even more worried what might happen with my relationship with Nadine. I will be the first to say that sometimes it gets really rough financially, and it is very scary. I was never honest with myself though when I was working as an assistant. It was almost like I wanted to play this role as a celebrity when actually I was just rotting in some shit hole environment that was barely getting me by each day. I think the reason I bought a lot of the stuff I have now and ran my credit cards through the roof was because I wanted to try to create this environment at home that could take me away from that place I was in at work. I’m sure people may not understand the reasoning behind some of my actions, but in my head, they do make since.

I know I had a few friends say I was crazy for letting a job like that go but to be honest, working 60 hours a week for someone else and only making a very small percentage of the cake felt like I was being taken advantage of. My pay would decrease after 40 hours, it would decrease again after 50, and then decrease again after 60. I don’t mean a few bucks here and there, I mean half of my hourly pay, if you took it down to the numbers. I don’t think I’m the kind of person that is truly a money person. Yes, I want to have enough money to do what I want to do: write, travel, and enjoy life, but it feels like money has brought everybody around me as well as myself down.

We are so consumed by the new technology and new toys that hit the market that we are willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on brand names, when we can simply buy something cheaper that is the exact same product. I know yesterday I went shopping for shirts, I saw all these Marc Anthony shirts for 24.99. I look right next to it. There was a brand called APT, where you got 2 shirts for 18.99. These shirts were the exact same material and design as Marc Anthony. So, why would anyone pay more for less? Well, the name I guess. Why are we so consumed in impressing the next person that enters our home or sees us walking down the street? Have we come to that point in our everyday life that we have to out buy our neighbors just to satisfy our own egos?

I watched a movie recently called The Joneses, but it had the perfect concept about this. A family moves into a neighborhood full of rich people. This family had a mom, dad, son, and daughter. Your typical American family. Well, they had all the brand name products across the board. We’re talking appliances, decor, perfumes, clothing, video games, and cars. The crazy part was the family was just a way for businesses to sell their products. These people got pulled from their normal jobs and families to take part in this to sell products and pretend to be a family. It was the craziest thing! The neighbors fell for it and bought everything these people didn’t spend a cent on.

So what does this tell us about where we are going as a nation? I think right now we’re stuck in limbo with the bullshit that’s going on in politics as well as the corporate world that is just trying to grab every cent from our pockets. Where is our money really going when we buy these products though? Are they going to ethical business practices, or another environmental disaster waiting to happen? We are creating our own demise by giving in to the corporate lies that we see on television, hear on the radio, and read in magazines. I know I was a sucker for it for a long time, bought the nice car, the nice flat screen televisions, the surround sound system, and many more things. I don’t know why i felt the need to buy these things, but now, I wonder why I didn’t think it through before I just threw my credit cards and money willingly to these people.

It’s in human nature for us to want, but is it really what we need? Someone told me the other day are prices expensive, or are we just getting poorer? Honestly, who knows what the answer to that is, but I’m willing to bet, we’re getting poorer due to the government and corporations strangling us with their greedy fists. What do we do now to save ourselves?

Haunting the Shadows

He walks in the shadows waiting for his prey to play.
The shadows are haunted by his presence everyday.
The eyes of his enemies look carefully, weary of their fate.
Although, they may think they are safe, he will wait.
His strength will overcome the armies of his closest enemies,
But his desire to kill will burn much less every time he speaks to thee.

He roams the streets all day causing devastation.
His mind is after the men who cause abominations.
The soldiers live their life in fright from his determination.
The fire burns in his eyes as he continues his excavation.
No one can stop him and keep him locked up incarceration.
He will change the world in the events of another assassination.

The assassin peers down from the tower at the guards below.
He waits for the monarch to come out of the tall wooden doors.
The days fly by and it was like yesterday that his family were ceased.
His father and brothers murder, while his mother and sister are overseas .
Ten years have passed and still there are more questions yet to be answered.
Still the men that broke his family are free and continuing the conspiracy.

They thought justice could be found in trial,
But justice was made when the assassin came to town.
